Nature's Little Explorers

Half Day Camp

Children ages 3 -5 years old*

*Child must be potty trained

Nurture your child’s sense of wonder and curiosity with activities that help them connect to nature! Sneak through the trees, explore for birds & animals, get creative in nature’s kitchen. Give your ‘super sleuth’ a chance to uncover the wonders of the natural world through play, exploration, games & crafts! These camps are lead by staff with training and experience working with younger children.

Members: $130/week
Non-members: $150/week
Before Care: $30/week or $7/day
After Care: $45/week or $10/day

There is a 10% discount for registering a second child during the same week.

CAMP DESCRIPTION

Week 1: June 11 - 15NUTS ABOUT NATURE
This is an enriching first camp experience for your knee high naturalist as they engage in fun, hands-on nature games and activities in a small group setting. Campers enjoy trail walks, animal encounters, puppets, songs, stories and art projects.
Week 2: June 18 - 22FROGS, TOADS, AND SALAMANDERS
Ribbit! Ribbit! Our amphibian friends are calling you to come hop around THW. We will spend a week learning and exploring as we search for these quick critters. Where do they live? What do they eat? How are they alike and different? You’ll be an amphibian expert by the end of this week!
Week 3: June 25 – 29TINY CHEFS
Cooking provides a sensory rich way for children to learn about the natural world. We’ll plant a garden and meet some garden insects along the way. We may even make mud pie!
Week 4: July 2 - 6*BIRDS AND BUTTERFLIES
Beautiful winged creatures fill the air at THW. Get your birding on as we look and listen for our feathered friends, sing bird songs, and build a giant nest! Then grab a butterfly net and view these delicate insects up close. You may even feel their legs tickle your nose before they flutter away.


* No camp Wednesday, July 4th. This week will be prorated to 4 days.

Week 5: July 9 - 13INSECT SAFARI!
Bug jar? Check! Butterfly net? Check! Need to explore the outdoors? Check! Sounds like you’re all set for a week of adventure as we get up close and personal with the world of insects. We’ll race after butterflies and dragonflies, scour the grasses for praying mantises, flip logs for beetles, and search the stream for stoneflies. It’s going to be a buggy bonanza!
Week 6 : July 16 - 20WATER, WATER EVERYWHERE!
Play, discover, and get wonderfully wet this week at the woods! This week’s adventure includes plenty of time exploring our creeks and ponds in search of frogs, crayfish, water bugs, and other friends. We will have water races, create water paintings, and do watery games and experiments. Join us for a splashing good time!
Week 7: July 23 - 27WOODLAND FAERIES AND FOREST ELVES
You’ll find that THW is full of magic if you only know where to look. Learn how to build fairy houses and gnome huts, and use your imagination while we search for these reclusive creatures. Games, crafts, and fantasy are sure to make this one magical week!
Week 8: July 30 - Aug 3NATURE’S LITTLE ARTISTS
Calling all art and nature lovers! This week we will use nature to paint, build, sculpt and create our own one-of-a-kind masterpieces. We’ll learn how to make our own paint and paintbrushes, sculpt statues out of clay and even use nature to form our own rock band.
Week 9: Aug 6 - 10SENSES, COLORS, SHAPES
Be alert! Nature can exercise all of a campers senses as they experience the variety of amazing colors and shapes Mother Nature uses to craft a forest. Campers will explore the forest while utilizing several senses and expanding their perception of the amazing diversity found in our natural world.
Week 10: Aug. 13 - 17WE SPEAK TO THE TREES
Climb trees. Play tree charades. Discover what foods come from trees from their roots to their leaves! Role play all the parts of a tree. Make your own paper from recycled tree pulp. Uncover how trees impact the world of wild animals, and humans too. Exploration, discovery, games, journaling, art projects, and crafts!
